Helen “Lou” Cannon

September 14, 1942 — April 5, 2026

On April 5, 2026, the world lost a remarkable woman as Helen “Lou” Cannon passed away peacefully at the home of her sister in North Carolina. Born on September 14, 1942, in the charming town of Saltville, Virginia, Lou embodied the spirit of kindness, resilience, and unwavering love throughout her life. Lou was the beloved daughter of Lee A. Harris, Sr. and Lucille Patrick Ratcliff, who instilled in her the values of compassion and strength. She is now reunited with them in eternal rest, as well as her devoted husband, Robert Cannon, and her cherished step-father, Bill Ratcliff, sister Barbara Branson and brother Sonny Harris. Their memories were a constant source of strength and inspiration for her. A dedicated and loyal employee, Lou devoted 39 years of her life to the Kroger Company. Her commitment and work ethic left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike, many of whom became lifelong friends. Lou's infectious smile and warm spirit brought light to the lives of everyone she encountered. Lou’s legacy of love and kindness continues through her surviving family members, who meant the world to her. Her sister, Sara Ratcliff Delorge, and brother-in-law, Mike, were not just family but her closest companions and confidants. Her special niece, Elizabeth Camden, along with her great-nephew and niece, Spencer and Mia Camden, held a particularly dear place in her heart. Lou also leaves behind her nieces Heather Arato and Ali Frumenti, Jennifer and Robin Branson, and her brother-in-law, James “Boby” Branson, all of whom she cherished deeply. Though a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Lou’s wishes, her family invites you to celebrate her life by supporting a cause close to her heart. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Lou's memory, helping to continue the fight against a disease that has affected so many. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Heartland Hospice for their love and compassion during this difficult time. Their support and care were a beacon of comfort, and they will forever hold a special place in the hearts of Lou’s family. Helen “Lou” Cannon was a woman of grace and dignity, whose life was a testament to love, perseverance, and joy. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her spirit will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. As we say goodbye to a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, we hold onto the treasured memories and the profound impact she had on our lives.
