Born on December 23, 1948, in West Helena, Arkansas, Helen was the cherished daughter of Willie Mae Davis and Roscoe Peterson, both of whom preceded her in death. Helen’s journey through life was marked by her unwavering love and dedication to her family. She was a beacon of joy and warmth, whose laughter and kindness brought light to all those fortunate enough to know her. Her gentle spirit and generous heart left mark on everyone she encountered. Helen was predeceased by her beloved sisters, Doris and Rosemary, her brothers, Dwayne and Lee, her son, Anthony, and her devoted partner of 45 years, Claude Giles, with whom she shared a life filled with love and laughter. Helen precedes her children, Crystal, Anthony, Marla, Renice, Claude, and Ricky. Helen created a home that was always open to friends and family alike. Helen’s heart swelled with pride for her grandchildren, Kara, Ayrelle, Trence, Shiann, Melody, and Sapphire, who were loved. She delighted in their achievements and cherished every moment spent with them, imparting wisdom and warmth that will guide them throughout their lives. Professionally, Helen dedicated 13 years of her life to Dominick’s Finer Foods, where she excelled as a General Merchandise Manager. Her colleagues remember her not only for her diligence and leadership but also for her ability to make everyone feel valued and appreciated. Helen’s work was more than a job to her; it was an opportunity to extend her kindness beyond her immediate circle. Helen possessed an extraordinary gift for making people feel welcomed and valued, a testament to her boundless generosity and kindness. Her home was a haven of comfort and hospitality, where friends became family, and strangers found a place of belonging. Her legacy of compassion continues to inspire all who knew her. A celebration of Helen’s remarkable life will take place on May 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Leak and Sons Funeral Home, located at 3501 Lincoln Hwy, Matteson, IL 60443.
