Helen Daniels

Helen Daniels, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on June 6, 1932, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, she was the treasured daughter of Dora and George Blue. Helen's life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Growing up in Wayne County, Helen attended the local public schools and graduated from Dillard High School with the class of 1950. Her passion for helping others led her to a fulfilling career. She spent 13 years working at the Diana Shop before finding her true calling as a Health Care Technician at Cherry Hospital, where she dedicated 30 years of compassionate service before retiring. Helen's warm heart and nurturing spirit found expression in her love for cooking, especially for her church community. Her joy in preparing meals was surpassed only by her love for fishing, reading, sports, tending to her beautiful flower gardens, and assembling intricate puzzles. These hobbies and interests brought her peace and happiness, which she shared generously with her family and friends. Helen was predeceased by her loving husband Wilbur J. Daniels, her parents Dora and George Blue, and her seven sisters and three brothers. Despite these losses, her legacy of love continues through her surviving family members: John L. (Virginia) Marsh of Columbia, SC; Donald (Ricky-Shelby) Marsh of Hope Mills, NC; Annie D. (Reginald) Sherard of Greenville, NC; Judy C. (Eric) Lewis of Goldsboro, NC; Sandra A. Seeney of Fayetteville, NC; and her dear grandson, Joseph A. Daniels of Durham, NC, whom she lovingly raised. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and dear friends. A celebration of Helen's life will be held on September 25, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Goldsboro Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, located at 1314 Ben Brewington Court. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff at Pitt Memorial Hospital and Willow Creek Rehab for their compassionate care during Helen's final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Helen's memory. Her life was a beacon of generosity and love, and her legacy will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew her.
