It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Helen Cecile Crowell, who departed this world peacefully on April 26, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on May 30, 1937, in the charming town of Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan, Helen's life was a tapestry of love, kindness, and indomitable spirit.
Helen was the cherished daughter of William and Evelyn Reaburn, who instilled in her the values of compassion and resilience that would define her life. She was a devoted sister to her siblings, predeceased by Gordon, Nelson, Robert, and Patsy, and is lovingly remembered by her brother Dennis and sister Kathy, as well as her dear sisters-in-law Judy Rand and Doreen Reaburn.
On December 14, 1956, Helen married the love of her life, Gordon Crowell, in Calgary, Alberta. Together, they crafted a beautiful life, raising three wonderful children: Gordie (Rosaline) Crowell, Pamela Crowell, and her favorite child, Lorrie (Brad) Burke. Helen and Gordon shared a bond built on love and laughter, a testament to a partnership that lasted until Gordon's passing.
Helen's heart was a beacon of warmth and generosity, qualities that endeared her to all who knew her. Her selflessness, kindness, and love were matched only by her feisty and sassy nature, attributes that brought joy and vitality to every room she entered. As a mother and grandmother, Helen's nurturing spirit was boundless. She is survived by her grandchildren, Christine and Ryan, who carry forward her legacy of love.
In addition to her immediate family, Helen leaves behind many nieces and nephews who adored her. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Jenna, whom she now joins in eternal peace.
Helen spent her final days surrounded by her loving family, a testament to the profound connections she cultivated throughout her life. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Veterans' Wing of Soldier's Memorial Hospital, Wolfville Nursing Home, and the Valley Regional Hospital for their compassionate care during Helen's stays.
In accordance with her wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor Helen's life. Her family invites those who knew and loved her to celebrate her memory in their own special way, cherishing the moments and laughter they shared with this remarkable woman.
Helen Cecile Crowell will be remembered as a beacon of love, a matriarch who personified grace and strength in equal measure. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her soul find eternal peace and her memory be a blessing to all.
