Her journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community. Helen's story is a testament to enduring love and partnership. After relocating to northern New Jersey, she met the love of her life, Peter Mekita. Together, they crafted a beautiful life, celebrating 70 years of marriage defined by unwavering support and shared dreams. Their home in Ramsey, NJ, became a nurturing haven where they raised five remarkable daughters: Ruthann, Diane, Marianne, Denise, and Patricia. Helen's legacy continues to flourish through her daughters, their devoted spouses, her 12 cherished grandchildren, and five precious great-grandchildren. Her family, a tapestry of love and unity, was her greatest pride and joy. Helen’s professional life was characterized by dedication and diligence. She contributed to the packaging department at Ciba-Giegy, where she worked with integrity and grace, eventually retiring in the early 2000s. Her colleagues remember her as a beacon of positivity and a mentor who inspired those around her. Beyond her professional and familial commitments, Helen was a vibrant presence in her community. As an active member of the Ramsey Women’s Club, she served as Secretary well into her 80s, exemplifying her commitment to service and leadership. Her passion for community involvement was matched only by her zest for life and her love for the simple joys it offered. Helen found solace and joy in the natural world. She was an avid birdwatcher, spending serene moments observing the beauty of nature. Her deck garden and houseplants were a testament to her nurturing spirit, bringing life and color into her home. Helen was also a voracious reader, finding adventure and wisdom within the pages of novels. Travel brought her and Peter closer as they explored new horizons, creating cherished memories along the way. Helen’s life was a shining example of love, resilience, and kindness. She leaves behind a legacy of strength and compassion, woven into the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her gentle spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering love will continue to guide and inspire us. A celebration of Helen’s life will be held on a date to be announced, where family and friends will gather to honor her remarkable journey and the indelible mark she left on the world.
