It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of our beloved Hector Javier Garcia, who departed this world on March 5, 2026, at the age of 56. Born on October 19, 1969, in the vibrant heart of Puerto Rico, Hector was a beacon of warmth and kindness, cherished by all who had the good fortune to know him.
Hector was the cherished son of the late Ana Matilde, whose loving spirit and nurturing nature undoubtedly influenced his own life. From a young age, Hector displayed a remarkable dedication to his family and community, traits that would come to define him throughout his life.
In 1988, Hector embarked on a beautiful journey of love and companionship when he married the love of his life, Maritza Rodriguez, in Brooklyn, New York. Together, they shared 38 wonderful years, raising three children—Priscilla, Hector, and Justin—in a home filled with laughter, love, and countless treasured memories.
Hector built a reputable career as a butcher in a local meat market in Brooklyn, where his work was more than just a job; it was a testament to his commitment to providing for his family and serving his community. His work ethic and dedication were unparalleled, and he took immense pride in his craft.
Above all, Hector was a family man, a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a good father and a good son, titles he held with the highest honor and respect. His gentle spirit and unwavering support were the cornerstones of his relationships, and his legacy of love and kindness will endure in the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.
Despite the challenges posed by dementia in his later years, Hector's spirit remained unbroken, and his love for his family never wavered. His daughter Priscilla's selfless care and devotion were a source of great comfort to him during this time, and the family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to her for her unwavering support and love.
Hector is survived by his beloved wife Maritza, his children Priscilla, Hector, and Justin, as well as his siblings, nieces, and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother, Ana Matilde, who has undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
A service to celebrate Hector's life will be held on March 28, 2026, at 5:00 PM at his home, located at 332 South 11th Street. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived and to share in the love and memories that Hector leaves behind.
