Hazel Winston Coley

It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude that we announce the passing of Hazel Winston Coley, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed this life on August 28, 2026. Hazel was born on June 23, 1938, and her life was a testament to love, kindness, and laughter, which she shared generously with all who knew her. She was 88 years old. Hazel was the cherished wife of Leroy Coley, with whom she shared 68 beautiful years of marriage. Their union, which began on October 28, 1957, was one of deep devotion and enduring partnership. Together, they raised six children who carry forward her legacy of warmth and compassion: Floretta Coleman, Hazel Marlow, Linda (Frederick) Watson, Leroy (Tamar) Coley II, and Michael Coley Sr. Hazel's family was her pride and joy, and she invested her life in nurturing their growth and happiness. She was preceded in death by her dear daughter Cynthia Coley Smith and treasured grandsons Demetrius and Dennis Coleman Jr. The love and memories they shared will forever remain in our hearts. Hazel's legacy is further enriched by her 12 grandchildren—Daniel (Miriam) Coley, Tawanda Stanley, Michael Coley Jr., Kinetra Watson, Keith (Ashlea), LaShauna Coley, Danielle Watson, Johntia Coley, Courtney Coleman, India Coley, Andreana (Juhmir) Lampley, and Jayla Coley—as well as her 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Each of them was deeply touched by her kindness and laughter. Known for her quick wit and warm smile, Hazel had an unparalleled gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. She was always ready with a joke to lighten the mood and brought joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness and generosity were boundless, touching countless lives in the community and beyond. A celebration of Hazel's remarkable life will be held on September 4, 2026, at 12:00 PM at TrueVine Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1850 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Mobile, AL 36617. Family, friends, and all whose lives were brightened by Hazel's presence are warmly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Hazel’s memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her spirit of generosity and care for others.
