Hazel Virginia Breig
August 10, 1927 — June 4, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Hazel Virginia Breig, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on June 4, 2026, at the age of 98. Hazel was born on August 10, 1927, in Stonycreek Township, a place she always held dear to her heart, to her loving parents Earl and Bessie (Martz) Boyer.
Hazel was a beacon of strength and kindness, whose life was a testament to the values of family, hard work, and community service. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francis Eugene Breig, with whom she shared many years of happiness and partnership in both life and business. Together, Hazel and Gene owned and operated Better Built Mobile Homes and Kimberly Estates, where they left a lasting mark on their community through their dedication and entrepreneurial spirit.
She was also predeceased by her parents, Earl and Bessie, and her siblings, Wilbert Elwood Boyer, Viola Schafer, Helen Boyer, Edith Fae Reiber, Marie Miller, and Jean Burk. Hazel's love for her family was boundless, and she carried their memories with her throughout her life.
Hazel is survived by her devoted children, Deborah (Peter) Cassini and Roger (Karen) Breig, who were her pride and joy. Her legacy continues through her cherished granddaughter, Kimberly (John) Hockman, and her precious great-grandchild, Cheyenne Hockman. Hazel's family was her greatest treasure, and she nurtured each generation with love and wisdom.
She also leaves behind her brother Ray (Thelma) Boyer and numerous nieces and nephews, who will fondly remember Aunt Hazel for her warmth and generosity.
A woman of great spirit and enthusiasm, Hazel was an active member of the Norwin Lioness Club, where she proudly served as President. Her vibrant personality and love for life led her to join The Red Hatters, and she delighted in the camaraderie of her card clubs. Hazel was also an avid bowler, participating in several leagues, and found joy in the simple pleasure of a good book.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Hazel's remarkable life at the James W Shirley Funeral Home, located at 176 Clay Pike, Irwin, PA, where services will be held. In honoring Hazel's memory, let us remember her for her kindness, her unwavering dedication to her family, and her joyful spirit that touched everyone she met.
As we bid farewell to Hazel, we carry her legacy of love, compassion, and community in our hearts. Her light will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew her.
