Hattie M Lee

May 20, 1957 — March 19, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hattie M. Lee, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who left us peacefully on March 19, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on May 20, 1957, Hattie was a beacon of love and kindness, whose life was a testament to the values of family, friendship, and community. Hattie was born to James V. and Gladys A. (Schoultz) Purcell, who instilled in her the virtues of compassion and resilience. She was preceded in death by her loving parents; her brothers, James and Edward; her sister, Gladys (known affectionately as Gay); her son-in-law, Arthur Killock; and her grandson, Eric Mehlenbacher. While she now joins them in eternal peace, her spirit continues to illuminate the lives of those she left behind. Hattie's life was enriched by the profound love she shared with her husband, Donald F. Lee. The two were married on July 15, 1995, in Perry, NY, but their partnership began 41 years ago, blossoming into a bond that was admired by all who knew them. Together, they built a family that was the center of Hattie's universe. She is survived by her devoted husband, Donald; her cherished children, James A. (Brandy) Ingerick, Laura M. DeGraff, Angela S. Killock, and Charlotte A. (Jim) Hampton. Her legacy is carried on through her nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life. Hattie also leaves behind her siblings, Patricia Purcell and William (Vicky) Purcell, as well as her caring in-laws, Steve (Sue) Lee, Lori (Dave) Potashnick, and Valerie (Ken) Lewis, and numerous nieces and nephews. Hattie's warmth extended beyond her family to her special friends Holly Slocum, Carolyn McGinnis, and Mary Nobbs, whose families were as much a part of Hattie's world as her own. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and the joyful songs of her special cockatiel, Lenny. A graduate of Livonia Central School in 1975, Hattie dedicated her life to nurturing others. She was a self-employed registered daycare provider for over 31 years, creating a safe and loving environment for countless children, many of whom remained dear to her heart throughout her life. In her later years, she worked part-time in the Food Service at Perry Central School, where she delighted in seeing her daycare "kiddos" grow and thrive. Hattie was passionate about her community and was actively involved in Relay for Life, honoring her mother's memory. Her beautiful gardens were a testament to her love of nature, and she found joy in watching Yankees games and traveling with Don, cherishing every adventure they embarked upon together. In accordance with her wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate Hattie's remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Cancer Society, a cause close to Hattie's heart. Though she is no longer with us, Hattie M. Lee's spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love have left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory be a blessing and a reminder of the beauty of a life well-lived.
