With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Harvey Lee McDonad Williams, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend. Harvey departed this world peacefully on April 5, 2026, at the age of 79, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever warm the hearts of those who knew him. Born on March 30, 1947, in the small, close-knit town of Kingstree, South Carolina, Harvey was the beloved son of Minnie and Abraham Williams. As the eldest of eight siblings, Harvey naturally embraced the role of a guiding light, a mantle he wore with grace and unwavering devotion. His early years were spent in the nurturing embrace of family, where he forged bonds that would stand the test of time. Harvey attended public schools in Collenton County, where he demonstrated an early aptitude for hands-on work. His passion for understanding the intricacies of machinery led him to pursue a career in auto mechanics through Job Corps. Armed with determination and skill, Harvey embarked on a journey that took him to Minnesota, where he honed his craft and earned his stripes as a licensed mechanic. For over five decades, he dedicated himself to the art of repairing automobiles, a profession that not only sustained him but also brought him immense satisfaction. In 2020, after a fulfilling career, Harvey made the heartfelt decision to return to his roots in South Carolina. It was here, surrounded by the love of his family, that he found profound joy and contentment. Harvey was a man of genuine warmth, known for his infectious smile and generous spirit. He had an extraordinary ability to make anyone feel like family and was admired for his unwavering kindness and compassion. Harvey's beloved wife, Venus, was his constant companion and the love of his life. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and a shared commitment to family. He was a devoted father to his children, Jamarie and Jamanda, who carry forward the values he instilled in them. His legacy also lives on through his brothers, Ronald Williams (Betty) and Joseph Sinclair (Viola), and his sisters, Sylvia Sheppard (Arthur), Minnie Hilton, and Victoria Anderson, all of Charleston, South Carolina. Harvey's extended family includes a host of nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Harvey was predeceased by his dear family members Velma Taylor and Sheppard Sinclair, whom he cherished deeply and now joins in eternal rest. As we reflect on Harvey's life, we remember a man who was an embodiment of love and devotion. He touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten, for his spirit lives on in the memories and stories we share. A celebration of Harvey's life will be held in South Carolina, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and the remarkable journey he shared with us all. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Harvey's name, as a tribute to his generous heart and love for helping others. Rest in peace, dear Harvey. Your love and light will forever guide us.
