Harry Oatneal

In loving memory of Harry Oatneal, who passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on August 12, 1942, in West Newton, Pennsylvania, Harry was the beloved son of Elizabeth and Grady Oatneal. He was predeceased by his parents, his cherished son Harold Eugene Grady Oatneal, and his siblings Florence, Grady, Richard, Etta, Anita, Ernest, and Stanford, as well as his in-laws Eugene Berry Jr. and Jennifer Berry Woodson. Harry leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength through his devoted wife of 59 years, Patricia Inez. Their love story began when he had the pleasure of escorting her to the prom as a husband, and they wed on March 17, 1967. Together, they built a beautiful family and life, blessed with children Deanna Brown, Darryl James, Dwayne Richard, and Aaron Sameuel (Tiffany) Oatneal. His memory will be forever cherished by his grandchildren Malik, Reine, Zora, Jacob, and Aaron Jr., as well as three great-grandchildren. Harry's extended family included many friends and loved ones, in-laws Carol Berry Staton, Gilbert C. Berry, Shirley Berry-Yates, Jeanna' Berry Shelton, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Harry was an honorable man who proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his time in the military, he found his calling in various professions. While residing in Pennsylvania, he worked at the US Steel Mill and General Tire and Rubber, before becoming a well-trained electrician. Eventually, Harry transitioned into public and commercial transportation, retiring from Greyhound Bus Lines after a fulfilling career. A never-ceasing Pittsburgh Steeler football fan, Harry brought joy and laughter to everyone he met. His incredible sense of humor made it impossible to leave his presence without sharing a hearty laugh. Harry's love for his wife's cooking was legendary, especially her chili and delightful caramel cake, which never failed to bring a smile to his face. His favorite musical group was Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes, whose melodies often filled their home with warmth and nostalgia. Those who were fortunate to have known Harry will remember him for his kindness, his ability to light up a room, and his unwavering love for his family. He never met a stranger, and his presence was a source of comfort and joy to all who knew him. A service to honor and celebrate Harry's life will be held on September 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM at The Forum, located at 705 Rivergate Parkway, Goodlettsville, TN 37072. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff at Skyline Hospital for their compassionate care during Harry's final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Harry's name to a charity of your choice, reflecting the love and generosity that he showed throughout his life. May his beautiful spirit live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
