Harrison Crossland

Harrison Crossland, a man whose laughter and love enriched the lives of all who knew him, peacefully departed this world at the age of 76, surrounded by the loving presence of Amanda and Donnie Glass. Born on January 8, 1950, in Massachusetts to proud parents Henry and Dorothy Crossland, Harrison lived a life full of adventure, dedication, and joy. A graduate of South Hadley High School in 1968, Harrison continued his education at Springfield Technical Community College, where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering. This foundation paved the way for his illustrious career, first working in Boston and Marshfield before venturing into entrepreneurship. In 1986, Harrison launched his own general contracting business, a venture that not only harnessed his engineering skills but also became a family affair. He lovingly imparted his craftsmanship to his children, forging bonds over remodeling projects and creating memories that would last a lifetime. Harrison married his beloved Elaine Hampson on June 19, 1970, a date that became doubly significant as it later coincided with Juneteenth. Together, they nurtured a family filled with love and shared experiences, until Elaine's passing. Their union blessed them with children Kerrielane Sweeting, Gregory Crossland, and Amanda and Donnie Glass, who, along with his cherished grandchildren—Adam, Anthony, Owen, Dylan, Abigail, and Liam—carry forward his legacy. A man of diverse interests, Harrison found solace and excitement in the natural world. He was an avid fisherman, often casting his line into the tranquil waters, and he relished the camaraderie of trips to the Grand Canyon with his brother, Richard Crossland. His sense of humor and warm smile left an indelible mark on everyone he met, creating a vast network of friends and acquaintances who will remember him fondly. Harrison's connection to the community extended beyond his professional and familial commitments. He was actively involved with the Shriners, where he embraced the role of a clown, bringing joy and laughter to many. This service was a testament to his generous spirit and desire to give back. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the hospital staff for their compassionate care and attention during Harrison's final days. They invite friends and family to celebrate his life on September 12, 2026, at Pine Tree Camp, located at 91 Halfway Pond Rd, where a service will be held at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, in honor of Harrison's memory. Harrison Crossland's journey was one characterized by love, laughter, and a deep commitment to those around him. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
