It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Harold Wilson Hunter, who left us peacefully at his residence in Mineral, Virginia, on September 16, 2026. Born on August 9, 1950, in Louisa, Virginia, Harold lived a life filled with devotion, hard work, and love for his family and community.
Harold was the cherished son of George and Mary Hunter. He was predeceased by his beloved father, George, his sister Joann, and his brother Ricky. He is survived by his devoted wife, Dorothy, with whom he raised four wonderful children: Douglas, Daniel, Dirrick his wife Angie and Stacy and her husband Tony.
Harold's beloved mother, Mary Hunter, will also hold him dear in her heart along with his surviving siblings: brothers Herman Wayne and Kernel Lee, and sisters Loretta Davis, Gail Horton, and Maryann Shelton with her husband Samuel. He will also be missed by his Uncle Lester Hunter.
Harold was a proud grandfather to 21 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 9 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought joy to his life.
Educated in Louisa County, Virginia, Harold went on to have a fulfilling career. He initially worked at Vepco but later found his true calling when he purchased a truck to haul lumber, a venture that brought him immense pride and satisfaction.
A man of faith, Harold was a member of Rising Sun Baptist Church under the guidance of Rev. Sherman Thomas. During his time there, he served dutifully on the Deacon's Board, offering his wisdom and kindness to the congregation.
Harold had a special love for tending to his yard, ensuring it was always a reflection of his care and attention to detail. He found joy in simple pleasures, such as savoring a piece of fried chicken, enjoying a cold Pepsi, and stopping by McDonald's for his daily cup of coffee.
