Harold Lloyd Truehill
June 11, 1946 — March 26, 2026
It is with profound sadness and cherished memories that we announce the peaceful passing of Harold Lloyd Truehill on March 26, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on June 11, 1946, in the close-knit community of Napoleonville, Louisiana, Harold's journey through life was marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to those he held dear.
The beloved son of Joseph and Elvira Truehill, Harold was the embodiment of warmth and generosity. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Steven, Linda, Beatrice, Gaynell, Jean Evelyn, Vanessa, Catherine, and Floyd, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms into eternal rest.
Harold is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Joyce, who he lovingly married on June 19, 1993. Their union was a testament to their enduring love, characterized by mutual respect and unwavering support. Affectionately known as "Mr. T" by Joyce, Harold ensured their life together was filled with joy and security, always making sure everything was "straight."
A cherished father and grandfather, Harold leaves behind a legacy of love in his five daughters: Lori Booker, Sabrina Truehill (Freddy), Gina Blue, Rolanda Carter (Gregory), and Cynthia Fair Jupiter; his two sons: Cleotha Blue (Angie) and Ricky Fair (Lorraine); and his siblings Isaac Truehill, Cardell Truehill (Angelina), and Jacqueline Truehill. His 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren were the light of his life, each visit ending with pockets full of candy and a couple of dollars as tokens of his affection.
Harold dedicated many years to his career as a mechanical engineer before embracing his passion in retirement, working on cars for friends and family in his cherished garage. His love for old western movies, the soul-stirring rhythm of blues music, and his legendary holiday gumbo were just a few of the joys that enriched his life and the lives of those around him.
A pillar of his community, Harold was always ready to lend a helping hand, especially during the holiday seasons when he collected hams and turkeys from local food pantries to share with loved ones. His grand presence, often described as that of a "gentle giant," was matched only by his quick wit and readiness to give a firm yet loving tongue-lashing when necessary. To know Harold was to love him, and his absence will be profoundly felt by all who had the privilege of crossing his path.
A celebration of Harold's life will be held on April 2, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Rhema Word Church, located at 5460 W Ohio, Chicago, IL 60644. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and kind words during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made in Harold's honor to local food pantries, continuing his legacy of generosity and community support. Harold Lloyd Truehill will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose spirit and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
