It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Harold Hayes on August 21, 2026. Born on February 2, 1956, in Louisburg, NC, Harold was a beloved son of the late Allen and Mary Hayes. He was predeceased by his cherished siblings, John Earl, Edward, Clarence, Walter, and Mary Hayes.
Harold’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and dedication. He was a loving husband to Ronda Renee Shaw Hayes, with whom he shared 18 wonderful years of marriage. The love they shared was truly amazing, and together they created a family filled with warmth and joy. Harold is survived by his devoted wife Ronda; his three daughters, Natasha Edwards, Tedra Edwards, and Latisha Edwards; four grandchildren, Cameron, Jamaya Durham, Isiah, and Kaden Daye; and one great-grandson, Tru. He also leaves behind his sisters Dorothy Miles, Margaret Anderson Hayes, Joanna Hayes, and brothers Nathaniel Hayes, Melvin Hayes, and Dennis Hayes, along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends Otario and Rick Bulluck, Archie Wilkinson, and Mr. Blake.
A graduate of Louisburg High School, Harold was a dedicated worker throughout his life. He spent many years in warehouse distribution centers across North Carolina before joining Eastern Minerals, where he retired in 2000 as a machine operator and forklift driver. Harold's work ethic and commitment were unparalleled, and he was known for his determination and unyielding spirit—a true fighter who never complained, regardless of life's challenges.
Outside of his professional life, Harold had a passion for working on cars, cooking, and spending quality time with his family. He cherished moments with his brothers and sisters and adored his grandchildren. Harold also had a creative side, expressing himself through art and drawing.
For 18 years, Harold was an active member of the Kidney Foundation, a testament to his courage and perseverance in the face of illness. His community involvement and dedication to helping others were inspiring and left a lasting legacy.
A celebration of Harold’s life will be held on August 29, 2026, at 9:00 AM at the Mary Davis Royster Funeral Home in Henderson, NC. The family kindly requests that any donations in Harold’s memory be made to Haywood Baptist Church in Louisburg, NC.
