November 2, 1946 — October 15, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harold Ellsworth Mayle Jr., who left this world peacefully on October 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 2, 1946, in Baltimore, Maryland, Harold touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. Harold was the beloved son of the late Harold E. Mayle Sr. and Irene Bechtold Mayle, and he carried forward their legacy of warmth and compassion. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Mary Lou Mayle (Schweinsberg), who stood by his side through life’s journey. A proud graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, Harold went on to serve his country in the Army Reserves for six years. His professional career began at AT&T/Lucent Technologies in Hunt Valley, Maryland, where he dedicated 33 years before enjoying an early retirement at the age of 55. Never one to remain idle, Harold found joy in his post-retirement work at Bohn Pontiac, where he spent 19 fulfilling years. Harold was a man of simple pleasures and great generosity. Known for his talent as a bargain shopper, he delighted in clipping coupons and finding the best deals. He was a dedicated family man, always present at his grandchildren's sporting events and concerts, never missing an opportunity to support their endeavors. His family fondly remembers evenings spent playing cards and sharing meals, cherishing these moments of togetherness. He is survived by his loving children, Scott Mayle Sr., and daughter-in-law, Deena Mayle (Newby); his daughter, Kerry Mayle and her partner, Joe Griffith; and his cherished grandchildren, Katelyn Horton (Mayle) and her husband Lathan Horton, Danielle Mayle, Scott (Matthew) Mayle Jr., Justin Mayle, Amberly Mayle, and Dakota Mayle. He was also the proud great-grandfather to Everett Horton. Harold's sister-in-law, Barbara Wilson (Schweinsberg), and his nieces, Tammy and Amanda Dunkes, mourn his passing. Among those who will miss him dearly is his faithful little dog, Charlie. Harold was a man who gave without seeking recognition, always thinking of others and their needs. His generosity and thoughtfulness were evident in every gift he gave and every gesture he made. In accordance with Harold’s wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Harold's memory, honoring his spirit of giving and care for others.
