October 24, 1941 — March 27, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Harold "Buddy" Mitchell, who departed this life on March 27, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on October 24, 1941, in Me a, Arkansas, Buddy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, whose legacy of love and kindness will be cherished forever.
Buddy was the cherished son of the late Ernest Mitchell and Ethel White Mitchell. Growing up in a large family, Buddy was predeceased by his parents, six sisters, and one great-grandson. Despite these losses, Buddy's spirit remained resilient and full of warmth, a testament to his character and unyielding dedication to those he loved.
For 66 beautiful years, Buddy was the devoted husband of Wilma "Janie" Cook Mitchell, with whom he built a life filled with laughter, love, and countless memories. Their love story was an inspiration, a testament to partnership and enduring affection. Together, they raised two daughters, Lynn (Scott) and Tammy (Nathan), who were the lights of his life. Buddy was also the proud grandfather to three grandchildren: Bo (Ashlea), Wesley, and Bridgette (Courtney). His heart further expanded with the arrival of his three great-grandchildren, Emilea, Ollie, and Finn, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Buddy's professional life was marked by dedication and skill. As a welder, he contributed to the construction of ground storage tanks and was a respected member of the Boilermakers Union. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were admired by colleagues and friends alike.
A man of faith, Buddy was a devoted member of the Church at Willow Beach in North Little Rock/Scott, Arkansas. His faith was the foundation of his life and a source of comfort and strength to him and his family.
Buddy's passions extended beyond his work and faith. An avid fisherman and deer hunter, he found peace and happiness in the great outdoors. His love for nature was a reflection of his love for life and the simple pleasures it offered.
Known for his amiable nature and generous spirit, Buddy was a man everyone liked. His presence was a source of support and encouragement to his family and all who knew him. He was a hard worker, a loyal friend, and a big supporter of those he loved. His legacy of kindness and dedication will be remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
Buddy is survived by his loving wife, Janie; his daughters, Lynn and Tammy; his grandchildren, Bo, Wesley, and Bridgette; his great-grandchildren, Emilea, Ollie, and Finn; and his sister, Sue. His family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Gentiva Hospice Care for their compassionate assistance and support during Buddy's final days.
A celebration of Buddy's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember a life well-lived. Until then, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Buddy's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting his spirit of generosity and care for others.
Harold "Buddy" Mitchell will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, faith, and strength will remain in our hearts forever. May he rest in peace.
