Born on March 27, 1935, in the picturesque town of Burlington, Vermont, Harold was the treasured son of the late Raymond and Alycya (Jeffrey) Racine. His life was a testament to love, loyalty, and an unwavering spirit that touched the lives of all who knew him.
Harold's early years in Burlington were marked by a deep sense of family and community. He grew up alongside his brothers, Richard and Raymond, who preceded him in death, instilling in him the values of perseverance and resilience. These qualities served him well throughout his life, especially during his honorable service in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Harold's dedication to his country was a source of pride for him and his family.
After his military service, Harold embarked on a long and fulfilling career as a sheet metal specialist at General Electric. His expertise and commitment to his work earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues, and he retired in 1991 after decades of dedicated service. Harold's meticulous craftsmanship and strong work ethic were evident in everything he did, leaving a lasting legacy in each project he undertook.
In 1957, Harold married the love of his life, Jeannette, and together they built a beautiful life over 68 remarkable years. Their marriage was a true partnership, characterized by unwavering support and deep affection. Harold's greatest joy came from his role as a father to his surviving children, Michael (Stephanie) Raccine and Debra Fernandez. He was predeceased by his beloved son, John Raccine, and daughter, Susan Raccine, whom he held close in his heart every day.
Harold was a proud grandfather to one grandchild and a great-grandfather who delighted in the laughter and joy of his great-grandchild. Family gatherings were filled with warmth and laughter, as Harold had a natural gift for making everyone feel loved and cherished. His kind heart and gentle spirit were a beacon of light to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A devoted fan of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Harold found joy in the excitement of each game, often sharing his enthusiasm with friends and family. His passion for hockey was just one of the many ways he brought people together, creating cherished memories with those he loved.
As we remember Harold, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and an enduring legacy. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Alycya Racine; his children, John and Susan; and his brothers, Richard and Raymond. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Jeannette, his children Michael and Debra, a grandchild, a great-grandchild, and countless friends who will forever treasure his memory.
A private service will be held for family and close friends to honor Harold's remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Harold's memory to a charity of your choice, as a tribute to the generosity and kindness that defined his life.
