Hans Kollinger

March 18, 1933 — March 22, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Hans Kollinger, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who departed this world on March 22, 2026, at the age of 93. Hans passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at St. Anthony Hospital. Hans was born on March 18, 1933, in the serene village of Ernsthausen, within the region of Banatski Despotovac, Serbia, which was then part of Yugoslavia. He was the cherished son of the late Lorenz and Susanna (Laux) Kollinger. Hans was preceded in death by his parents and his dear sister, Katharine Grujanac. In 1955, Hans embarked on a beautiful journey of love and partnership with Helene "Noheimer" Kollinger, whom he met in Chicago. Their marriage of 71 years was a testament to unwavering love and devotion. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter, raising three wonderful children: Hans R. (Jacqueline), Peter E. (Kate), and Rita (Jim). Hans's legacy extends through his 10 grandchildren—Hans S., Heidi, Erika, Jacqueline, Phillip, Peter H., Lauren, Eric, Luke, and Alex—and his 12 great-grandchildren—Stella, Zander, Drake, Stella, Lincoln, Milla, Josephine, Anders, Lorenzo, Benjamin, Amelia, and Carmen. His family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Hans had a fulfilling career as a nursing home administrator at the Lake Land Nursing Center, where his compassion and dedication touched the lives of many. He also found great joy in tending to the animals on their Beecher City property, where he lovingly cared for them as a devoted caregiver. A man of diverse interests, Hans had a deep passion for Arabian horses and was a respected member of his community. Known for his wit and intelligence, he loved engaging in conversations with people, always eager to learn about their stories and connections. Hans was a brilliant card and chess player, never shying away from a friendly challenge. Hans's warmth and kindness extended beyond his family and friends. He was actively involved in charitable endeavors, supporting organizations such as Catholic Charities and Meals on Wheels. His generosity and selflessness touched many lives, leaving a lasting impact on those around him. In memory of Hans's remarkable life, donations can be made to the Hans Kollinger Memorial Fund through Catholic Charities at this link. As we bid farewell to Hans, we remember him not only for his accomplishments and passions but for the love and warmth he brought into the lives of everyone he encountered. His life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and community, and his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A celebration of Hans's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor and cherish the extraordinary life he lived. Until then, we hold him close in our hearts, grateful for the time we shared and the indelible mark he left on this world.
