H. JAMES "JIMMY" ARCIAGA

September 26, 1951 — July 3, 2026

On July 3, 2026, the world lost a remarkable soul, H. James "Jimmy" Arciaga, who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 74. Born on September 26, 1951, in Ogden, Utah, Jimmy was the cherished son of Patricia Rabi Arciaga and Pedro Arciaga, who predeceased him, along with his beloved sister, Norma Copps Peters, and his wives, Voni Arciaga and Jeanette Smith. Jimmy was a proud graduate of Davis High School in 1969, after which he nobly served his country in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972. Although his dreams of becoming a helicopter pilot were halted due to colorblindness, he gracefully transitioned to a career as a diesel mechanic. This path led him to a fulfilling and lifelong career as a diesel truck driver and machine operator, where he became known for his strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail. Jimmy was a man of deep faith and was actively involved in his Baptist church community. His charm, impeccable social skills, and distinctive fashion sense left a lasting impression on everyone he met. For those who knew him, Jimmy's warmth and charisma were infectious, lighting up any room he entered. A lover of the great outdoors, Jimmy spent many winters on the mountains skiing and snowboarding, and his summers were filled with fishing and hunting adventures. Year-round, he could be found shooting pool at Stockmans, captivated by the games and sports of his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Jimmy's legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, which includes his surviving siblings Judy (Paul) Holland, Barbara (Bill) Hansen, and David (Val) Arciaga. His legacy is further carried by his 27 cherished grandchildren and his 13 adored great-grandchildren. Jimmy shared his life with his partner, Jan Bird, and though he experienced loss, he embraced love and companionship with an open heart. His family and friends will forever remember his laughter, his kindness, and his unwavering dedication to those he loved. To celebrate Jimmy's extraordinary life, a service will be held on July 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquists, located at 1867 N. Fairfield Road. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived and to share stories that speak to the joy and warmth that Jimmy brought into their lives. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Jimmy's memory. His spirit of generosity and love for life will be remembered always, as he continues to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
