It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a beautiful life that we announce the passing of Gwendolyn Kay Green-Randle on January 23, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on September 18, 1952, in the vibrant city of Corpus Christi, Texas, Gwen graced this world with her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering faith. Gwen was the beloved daughter of the late Willie J. Shack Sr. and Florence Shack. She grew up in a nurturing home filled with love, alongside her cherished siblings: the late Willie J. Shack Jr., Jeffrey Shack, James Shack, and her dear sister, Christie Bennett. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she carried their love and lessons with her throughout her days. A proud alumna of Roy Miller High School, Gwen's thirst for knowledge led her to Texas Women’s University, where she earned not one but two Master’s Degrees in History and Mathematics. Her passion for education was unparalleled, and she dedicated 41 remarkable years to shaping young minds as a teacher. Even after a brief retirement, her calling to educate drew her back to the classroom as a substitute teacher for an additional two years. Gwen's career was not just a profession but a testament to her boundless love, patience, and commitment to nurturing future generations. Gwen was united in holy matrimony with her first husband, the late Mr. Ellis Green, and was later blessed with a loving partnership with her devoted husband, Minister Buford Randle. Together, they shared a life rich in faith and service, a partnership that exemplified devotion and spiritual harmony. Her heart was a wellspring of kindness, her smile a beacon of joy that could light up an entire football field, as many would fondly recall. Gwen's infectious happiness and deep love for God were palpable to all who encountered her. A faithful member of the Providence Church of God in Christ, her life was a testament to her unwavering faith and commitment to serving others in the name of the Lord. Gwen leaves behind a loving family, including her husband, Minister Buford Randle, brothers Jeffrey Shack and James Shack, sister Christie Bennett, and an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, as well as the countless students whose lives she touched. Though she had no grandchildren or great-grandchildren, her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. A celebration of Gwen's life will be held on February 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, located at 1605 Comanche St., Corpus Christi, TX, 78401. We invite all who were blessed to know Gwen to join us in honoring her remarkable life and the indelible mark she left on our world. In the spirit of Gwen's life—a life filled with love, learning, and faith—let us remember her not with tears of sorrow, but with joy and gratitude for the profound impact she had on us all. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
