April 13, 1948 — April 11, 2026
In loving memory, we honor the remarkable life of Gwen Goodwin, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and educator, who passed peacefully in her sleep on April 11, 2026, just shy of her 78th birthday. Born on April 13, 1948, in Dumas, Texas, Gwen was a beacon of warmth, humor, and resilience, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Gwen was the cherished daughter of JR and Wanda Miller, who instilled in her a passion for education and a love for family. She was the beloved sister to her twin brother, Glen, her sister, Betty, and brother, Jim, who predeceased her, leaving behind fond memories of their shared childhood in Texas.
Gwen's journey of love and partnership began when she met Bob Goodwin. The two married on May 30, 1970, in Wilburton, Oklahoma, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication. Their union of 55 years was a testament to enduring love, and they found joy in raising their three children in the heart of Southeastern Oklahoma.
A proud graduate of Panola High School, Gwen pursued higher education at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, where she earned her bachelor's degree in education. With a heart for nurturing young minds, she dedicated 17 years to teaching special education, enriching the lives of countless students. Her commitment to making a difference extended beyond the classroom, as she later managed and owned Harbors Mini Mart, bringing her distinctive flair and dedication to the business.
Gwen was a woman of many talents, known for her exceptional sewing skills, crafting many of her children's clothes with love and precision. Her culinary talents were equally renowned, and she delighted her family with her delicious baked goods, creating a tapestry of flavors that lingered in the hearts of those she fed.
Her family was her pride and joy. Gwen is survived by her devoted husband, Bob Goodwin, and her loving daughters, Theresa Johnson and Sandy Lindamood, along with Sandy's husband, Timmy. She was a doting grandmother to Nikki, Michael, Sierra, and Jalyn, and a cherished great-grandmother to six wonderful great-grandchildren.
Gwen's personality was as vibrant as it was memorable. Her spicy wit and edgy humor were the hallmarks of her character, and she was never shy to express her opinions, often standing firm for the causes she believed in. Her authenticity and zest for life left an indelible impression on everyone she met, making her absence deeply felt.
She is reunited in eternal peace with her parents, her twin brother Glen, sister Betty, brother Jim, and her beloved son, Robert Goodwin, whose memories she carried with her every day.
A celebration of Gwen's life will be held on April 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Miller and Miller Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather and share in the stories and memories that illustrate the vibrant tapestry of a life well-lived.
In honoring Gwen's memory, we celebrate a life rich in love, laughter, and legacy. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. As we bid farewell, we hold close the lessons she imparted and the love she shared, grateful for the profound impact she had on our lives.
