In loving memory of Gustavo Ambros, who was born on May 16, 1938, in Erie, Pennsylvania. Gustavo departed this world peacefully at home on Thursday, October 1st, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories. Gustavo was a devoted patriarch and a beacon of strength for his family. He was a proud father to his children—Pamela, Keith, Carl, Randall, and Bryan—each of whom carries on his values and his unwavering love for family. Gustavo was also a treasured grandfather to John Jr. (JJ), Chelsey, Nicholas, Anthony, Tiffany, Katelyn, Joshua, Charles, and Jason, and a beloved great-grandfather to 17 great-grandchildren who adored him deeply. A man of many talents, Gustavo graduated from Academy High School and went on to become a certified mechanic, a profession that he pursued with passion and skill. In addition to his mechanic work, he served as a janitor within the Erie School District, dedicating his career to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for students until his well-earned retirement. Gustavo was a proud veteran, having served in the Army, and he continued to demonstrate his commitment to his fellow servicemen and women as a member and post commander of the American Legion. His leadership and camaraderie were an inspiration to many. Known for his vibrant spirit, Gustavo was an avid Pinochle player, a dedicated bowler, and a passionate fisherman. He had an infectious love for baseball games and cherished every moment spent with his family and grandchildren, who were the light of his life. A hardworking family man, Gustavo's legacy is defined by the warmth, kindness, and leadership he provided as the family patriarch. He leaves behind a family that will carry forward his values and continue to uphold the loving bonds he so deeply cherished. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the VA Hospital medical staff and the end-of-life caregivers who supported Gustavo and ensured his peaceful transition. In honoring Gustavo's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to celebrate his life and legacy on Sunday October 4th, 2026. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion or a charity of your choice in Gustavo's memory. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
