Born in Merced, CA, on February 22, 1949, Guillermo lived a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. The son of Guillermo and Mary Martinez, Guillermo was raised in a family that valued hard work and togetherness. After completing his education at Merced High School, he began his career at Mercy Hospital. As a young father, Guillermo demonstrated unwavering dedication by working multiple jobs to support his family. His diverse career journey took him to Pizza Villa, where he cherished the camaraderie and, of course, the pizza. He spent many years at Stuart Radiators, and with an entrepreneurial spirit, he ventured into running his own janitorial business. Ultimately, Guillermo found a fulfilling role with the City of Merced. Guillermo's life was enriched by his deep love for travel and his passion for exploring diverse cuisines. These experiences were shared with his cherished family, including his loving wife of 20 years, Julia Martinez, and his children, Guillermo Martinez III, Michael Martinez, and April Flores. Guillermo's heart was further filled with joy by his six grandchildren, with whom he spent countless hours sharing stories, laughter, and his love for adventure. A man of jovial spirit, Guillermo was known for his playful sense of humor and his ability to bring joy to those around him. He had a knack for making others laugh and left an indelible mark on everyone he met. As a member of The Club Mercedes, Guillermo found a community that shared his zest for life and his love for his hometown of Merced. Guillermo was predeceased by his parents, Guillermo and Mary, and his first love and wife, Jeanne Martinez. His legacy continues in the hearts of his surviving family members, who will forever cherish his memory and the impact he had on their lives. A service to celebrate Guillermo's life will be held on October 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Calvary Cemetery, located at 59 Childs Ave., Merced, CA.
