It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Guido Abramo, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed from this world on April 19, 2026, at the age of 88. Guido peacefully took his leave, surrounded by the love and warmth of his cherished family.
Born on July 17, 1937, in the charming town of Middletown, Connecticut, Guido grew up amidst the vibrant, close-knit community that would shape his character and values. His childhood was filled with stories of adventure and camaraderie, which he would later recount with great delight to his grandchildren, painting vivid pictures of a life well-lived.
Guido's early passion for baseball took him to the University of Hartford, where he not only pursued his education but also played the sport he loved. His dedication to the game was a testament to his commitment and perseverance, qualities that he carried with him throughout his life. A lifelong, passionate New York Yankees fan, Guido's enthusiasm for the game never waned, and he found immense joy in sharing this interest with others.
In 1962, on a beautiful spring day, Guido married the love of his life, Barbara, beginning a remarkable journey that spanned 63 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and mutual respect, creating a family that would be the center of Guido's world. His love for Barbara was evident in every glance and gesture, an enduring testament to their deep bond.
Guido proudly served his country as a sergeant in the National Guard, demonstrating his unwavering sense of duty and honor. His service was a reflection of his commitment to something greater than himself, a characteristic that defined many aspects of his life.
Family was the cornerstone of Guido's existence. He was a devoted father to Paul Abramo and his wife Carolyn, Lisa (Abramo) Keohane and her husband Gerald, and Marc Abramo. His role as a grandfather brought him immense pride and happiness, as he cherished every moment spent with his six grandchildren: Dominic, Timothy, Christopher, Peter, Matthew, and Abigail. Guido's storytelling, particularly about his childhood adventures in Middletown, became a treasured tradition, weaving a tapestry of memories that his grandchildren will carry forward.
Guido's love for golf provided him with endless hours of enjoyment and camaraderie. The golf course was his sanctuary, a place where he could reflect on life's blessings and challenges. His warm smile and gentle demeanor endeared him to everyone he met, and his stories of yesteryears never failed to bring a smile to those around him.
As we remember Guido, we celebrate a life defined by love, loyalty, and laughter. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength, a testament to a life lived with purpose and passion. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A private family service will be held to honor Guido's memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Guido's name, keeping his spirit of generosity alive.
Rest in peace, dear Guido. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, and you are loved beyond words.
