In Loving Memory of Gregory Jerome Branon Gregory J. Branon, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 17, 2026. Born on November 18, 1956, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, LA, Greg was a beacon of strength, intelligence, and kindness whose life was a testament to the power of resilience and love. Greg was the cherished son of Lt. Colonel Nelson and Delores Branon. He spent his formative years in a household filled with discipline and determination, qualities that would come to define his remarkable journey. Preceded in death by his father, his daughter Danielle Quintana, his grandson DaeVon Branon-Banks, and his mother-in-law, Thelma Robinson, Greg is survived by his devoted wife, Ramona Branon, his mother, Delores Branon, his children Gabrielle Branon-Chesley and Austin Branon, his son-in-law David Banks Jr., his brothers John and Ty Branon, and his cherished grandchildren, Charlize Branon, Gaebrel Branon-Banks, Mikal Quintana, and Aaniyah-Ray Quintana. He also leaves behind a wide circle of extended family, dear friends, and former colleagues who will forever be inspired by his legacy. Greg’s life was marked by excellence and service. His athletic prowess in high school football drew the attention of nine colleges, leading him to the University of Colorado, where he ranked second in the nation, and later to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). His dedication to his country led him to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, where he trained as a fighter pilot while continuing his football career. In 1980, Greg's dreams took flight when he was drafted by the Los Angeles Raiders. Though a torn ACL altered his path, it was merely a detour in a life filled with purpose. He dedicated over two decades to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, serving with honor and distinction in roles ranging from patrol officer to SWAT team member. His commitment to safety extended to his work with presidential security details and various security roles in Las Vegas. An entrepreneur at heart, Greg co-owned several businesses, including Mobile Chiropractic Care (with Jamie Spickelmier), Bi-State Home Improvement, (with Michael Lamb & co-owners) and Ultrasound Imaging Consultants, LLC. His passion for learning and helping others was boundless. A devoted member of the New Life Seventh Day Adventist Christian church, Greg found comfort and community in his faith during his time in Las Vegas. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Greg was a family man whose greatest joy came from his loved ones. He shared an unbreakable bond with his wife Ramona, whom he met during his service as a police officer. Together, they built a life rich with love and adventure. His wife was the center of his world, and he was a steadfast protector and provider for his children & grandchildren. Greg's warmth extended to his hobbies, which included an unwavering love for football, family outings to the movie theater, and many long, joyful evenings spent singing karaoke. His intelligence, wit, and ability to converse on any topic were legendary among those who knew him. A service to honor Greg's life will be held on August 12, 2026, at 4:00 PM at the Affordable Cremation & Burial Service, located at 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89102. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the LVMPD Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association in Las Vegas, NV. A second memorial will be held on August 17, 2026, at Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs, CO, where Greg will be laid to rest beside his father, Lt. Colonel Nelson Branon. Gregory Branon’s life was a tapestry of service, love, and dedication, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
