Gregory Michael Hammond

December 3, 1997 — August 8, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gregory Michael Hammond, who left this world peacefully in his sleep on August 8, 2026. Born on December 3, 1997, in Alma, Michigan, Gregory was a cherished son, brother, grandson, and friend who touched the lives of many with his vibrant spirit and infectious smile. Gregory was the beloved son of Shelia Marie Troyer and Gregory Michael Hammond, and the treasured grandson of Kathy Troyer. He was a proud and loving sibling to Chloe and Leo Duroucher, and Jojo and Gabe Eilts, who, along with their families, were an important part of his life. Gregory's life was also enriched by the presence of his uncle Rex and Crystella Winkelman and their sons, Levi and McKinley Paul. Although Gregory was single, he was never without love, surrounded by family, friends, and countless cousins who cherished him deeply. A graduate of Alma High School in 2024, Gregory was known for his unique ability to keep those around him on their toes, whether it was his devoted mother, caregivers, or case managers. His joyful laugh and mischievous grin were trademarks of his personality, and his hugs were renowned for their warmth and occasional playful headbutts. Gregory found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved venturing into nature for walks and visiting the discovery museum with his beloved nieces and nephews. At home, he could often be found absorbed in the haunting tales of creepy pasta or enjoying the timeless hits of 80's rock. Though his life was short, Gregory's impact was profound. He is predeceased by a number of cherished family members, including his maternal great-grandmother, Edna Nichols; maternal great-aunts Mary Jo and Debra Jewel; maternal great-uncle Kenneth Troyer; maternal aunt and uncle Bonnie and Richard Overla; maternal cousin Kobey Rippie; and paternal grandmother Patricia Ann Lyon. The memory of these loved ones was a cornerstone of Gregory's life, and they undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to all who knew and supported Gregory throughout his journey. Your love and friendship meant the world to him, and he carried that love in his heart every day. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Gregory's memory may consider donating to a charity of their choice, a gesture that mirrors the kindness and generosity that defined his life. Gregory will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
