It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for the years shared with him that we announce the passing of Gregory Lance Stephens, who left this world peacefully on July 7, 2026, surrounded by love and care at the hospital. Born on September 3, 1961, in the charming town of Crossett, Arkansas, Greg brought joy and warmth to everyone he encountered throughout his 64 wonderful years.
Greg was the beloved son of the late Buddy and Linnie Stephens, and brother to the late Deborah Stephens McDonald. He is survived by his devoted partner, Jennifer Moss Spurlock May, whose compassion and unwavering love were a source of strength and comfort to Greg, especially in his final days. Greg is also survived by his cherished sister, Vicki Stephens Lindsey, and her husband Steve, as well as his three treasured children: Gregory, Alex, and Kenedi Stephens.
A proud graduate of Crossett High School, class of 1979, Greg pursued higher education at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, where he obtained his Bachelor's degree in 1983. His passion for learning and zest for life were evident in all his pursuits.
Greg was a man of many talents and interests. He excelled in sports, taking great pride in his achievements in golf, pole-vaulting, baseball, and football. Beyond his athletic prowess, Greg had a deep love for music, which he expressed beautifully through his guitar playing and singing. His melodies brought joy to family gatherings and friendships alike, leaving lasting memories in the hearts of those who heard him.
A private funeral ceremony will be held in honor of Greg, allowing his family and close friends to celebrate his life in a setting of intimacy and love.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in memory of Gregory Lance Stephens. This gesture would honor his life and continue his legacy of kindness and generosity.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Jennifer Moss Spurlock May for her exceptional compassion and loving care during Greg's illness. Her presence and devotion were a testament to the enduring love and commitment she and Greg shared.
Greg's laughter, kindness, and indomitable spirit will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. As we say goodbye to a remarkable man, we hold fast to the memories and the legacy he leaves behind, forever cherished in our hearts.
