Born on January 29, 1956, in the cherished town of Rocky Mount, NC, Gregory was the beloved son of the late Herbert and Gladys Joyner. His passing, after a courageous battle with a lung-related illness, leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Gregory's life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and a love for community. He pursued his education with vigor, earning an Associate’s degree in Business Administration, which paved the way for a fulfilling career. Gregory dedicated much of his professional life to the railroads of Rocky Mount, where he found joy and purpose driving trains. His work was not merely a job, but a passion that connected him to the heartbeat of his hometown. In his younger years, Gregory found happiness on the baseball field, where he played with enthusiasm and skill. This pastime, one of his greatest joys, reflected his spirit of camaraderie and teamwork—qualities that defined his relationships both on and off the field. Gregory was predeceased by his dear parents, Herbert and Gladys Joyner, and his beloved nephew, Elliot Whitehead. His memory lives on through his surviving family: his cherished son, Gregory K Joyner Jr; his loving sister, Sharon Joyner; devoted nieces, Coretta Joyner, Charmaine Williams, Crystal Williams, Kashana Crudup; and his caring nephew, Sherrod Joyner. Though Gregory did not have grandchildren or great-grandchildren, his legacy continues through the lives he touched with kindness, wisdom, and love.
