Gregory Boaz

Gregory Boaz, a cherished son, brother, father, and friend, passed away, leaving a profound legacy of love, courage, and service. Born on June 17, 1970, in Ottawa, Illinois, Gregory was the beloved son of Rosalie A. Boaz and the late Daniel G. Boaz. His early years were spent in the warmth of a close-knit family, alongside his siblings Thomas W. Boaz, Daniel S. Boaz, and Jennifer L. Wright, who all shared in the joys and adventures of childhood. Gregory was a proud graduate of John Marshall High School in San Antonio, Texas. Driven by a deep sense of duty to his country, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on January 1, 1989. He served with honor and distinction for four years, achieving the rank of Corporal, E4. His bravery and skill were recognized through numerous commendations, including the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with one star, Southwest Service Medal with two stars, and the National Defense Medal. Gregory's service during Desert Shield and Desert Storm on the front lines is a testament to his unwavering dedication and valor. Beyond his military achievements, Gregory was a devoted father to his sons, Joshua Scotto and Ethan Boaz. He embraced fatherhood with great joy and commitment, sharing a special bond with his sons and his fiancée, Cassidy. His heart was further enriched by his fiancée, Nuria "Cookie" Chrisman, with whom he shared dreams of a beautiful future. Gregory's life was filled with the love and support of his surviving family members, including his mother Rosalie (Boaz) Johnson, his stepfathers Tom Johnson and Leo Martinez, and a large extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Each relationship was a cherished thread in the tapestry of his life. A committal service to honor Gregory's life and service will be held on August 26, 2026, at 2:15 p.m. at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice, a gesture that reflects Gregory's generous spirit and his desire to make a positive impact in the world. Following the service, the family warmly invites all who knew and loved Gregory to join them in a gathering of remembrance and celebration at AJUUA Mexican Grill, 11703 Huebner Rd, San Antonio, TX 78239, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The patio area will be reserved under the Boaz family name. All are welcome to join in fellowship, with food, appetizers, and drinks available for purchase. Gregory Boaz will be remembered as a courageous Marine, a loving father and son, and a steadfast friend. His legacy of strength, compassion, and love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in peace, forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
