January 26, 1969 — May 16, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gregory Banton on May 16, 2026, at the age of 57. Born on January 26, 1969, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Gregory was a beacon of kindness and generosity, traits he demonstrated throughout his life in both his personal and professional endeavors. Gregory was a devoted son to Francis and the late Judith Banton, who instilled in him the values of compassion and curiosity that he carried forward into his journey. A loving father, Gregory leaves behind his cherished children, Cameron and Sydney Banton, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his dear brother Michael Banton and sister-in-law Tammy, who were not only family but also his closest confidants. Gregory joins his beloved mother, Judith, in eternal peace. A proud and dedicated longtime member of the Teamsters Rail Union, Gregory was respected by his colleagues for his unwavering work ethic and the spirit of camaraderie he brought to the workplace. His career was more than just a job; it was a testament to his love for community and his desire to contribute positively to the lives of those around him. Gregory found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He could often be found on his deck, sipping coffee while immersing himself in the symphony of birdsong, or watching for deer in the serene early mornings. An ardent lover of nature, he cherished the tranquility of being out on the water in his kayak, where he found peace and reflection. Sundays were reserved for cheering on his beloved Buffalo Bills, a tradition that brought him immense joy and connection with friends and family. His passion for history and travel fueled his adventurous spirit, as he sought to explore the world and learn from its rich past. Gregory's curiosity was boundless, a quality that endeared him to many and made him a fascinating conversationalist and a great listener. He was a man of loyalty and integrity, always willing to extend a helping hand to those in need, embodying the very essence of what it means to be a generous soul. In honor of Gregory's life and in lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, an organization that is committed to causes close to Gregory’s heart. As we say goodbye to Gregory, we remember the warmth of his smile, the kindness of his heart, and the profound impact he had on those who were fortunate enough to know him. His spirit will live on in the memories we hold dear and in the legacy of love and generosity he leaves behind. Rest in peace, Gregory. You will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
