Gregory G. Diaczok
September 20, 1946 — June 10, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gregory George Diaczok, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, on June 10, 2026. Greg was born in the vibrant neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY, on September 20, 1946, to parents Pauline (Berbetz) and George Diaczok. He grew up alongside his brother, Paul, who predeceased him, and his sisters, Diana Virginia and Catherine, in a household filled with love, resilience, and a deep appreciation for family.
Greg's life was a testament to the power of dedication, both in his personal and professional endeavors. He was a brilliant mind, earning a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (BEEE) from Manhattan College, followed by a Master's (MEEE) from the University of Dayton. His career took him to the skies as he dedicated ten years to Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH, and later, to new heights as an advisory engineer at Northrup Grumman in Severna Park, MD, where he proudly served for 33 years. His colleagues at Northrup Grumman and the IEEE community will remember him as a man of integrity, innovation, and intelligence.
In 1969, Greg married the love of his life, Maureen Hayward, in a beautiful ceremony in New York City. Their 57 years together were filled with unwavering love, adventure, and mutual respect. Together, they built a family that became Greg's greatest joy and legacy. He was the proud father of three sons: Keith, Christopher (married to Adrienne), and Daniel (married to Suzanne), and the doting grandfather to Penelope, Logan, Andrew, and Emily. Greg's eyes would light up with every mention of his grandchildren, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments and character.
Greg was not only an accomplished engineer but also a man of many passions. He had a keen eye for photography, capturing the world’s beauty through his lens, and a love for sports cars that never waned. His adventurous spirit led him to explore the great outdoors through camping and kayaking, and he found solace in the gentle strumming of his guitar. Greg was also an avid cyclist, often seen riding his bike through the trails of Maryland, embracing the simple joys of life.
His legacy is one of kindness, curiosity, and an unyielding commitment to his family and community. Greg's laughter, wisdom, and gentle soul will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we gather to celebrate his life, we are reminded of the impact one person can have on the world and the lasting impression Greg has left on our hearts.
