Greg Cowart

Greg Cowart, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 20, 2026, at Kingwood Hospital after a courageous battle with necrotizing fasciitis and several other complications. Born on November 10, 1969, in Baytown, Texas, Greg brought warmth, laughter, and love to all who knew him. Greg was the cherished son of Kirbbie and Naomi Cowart and Pam Smith. He was predeceased by his grandparents Louis and Elaine Cowart, John and Edna Templin, stepfather Autry Smith, stepbrother Eugene Smith, stepson Colton Flagle, and stepbrother Derek Brown. Greg leaves behind his devoted wife, Carol Cowart, with whom he shared 17 beautiful years of marriage. Their love story was one for the ages, having known since kindergarten that they would one day marry. Greg is survived by a large and loving family, including his children: Amanda Anthony and husband Freddarrius, Stephanie Sonheim, Jacob Cowart and wife Tristan, Hannah Sonheim and husband Brandon, Luke Cowart, Aaron Bassett and wife Tamara, and Liana Eilts and husband Shane. He was the adored brother of Valerie Touchstone and her husband Gary, and stepsister Tammy Mann. He also leaves behind 22 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. Greg was an ordained minister of the Gospel, dedicating his life to serving others with compassion and faith. He had an innate ability to make people laugh with his storytelling and humor, a skill that could have made him a stand-up comedian. His kind heart and willingness to help anyone in need were hallmarks of his character. Greg's red hair was as vibrant as his personality, and he was never far from his workshop, where he loved tinkering with small motors. A service to celebrate Greg's life will be held on September 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Colmesneil First Assembly Of God. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Greg's memory to a charity of your choice. Greg Cowart's legacy of love, laughter, and service will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of his family and friends.
