In Loving Memory

Beatrice Rotella
November 4, 1933 — May 24, 2026
It is with profound sadness, yet a heart full of gratitude for a life well-lived, that we announce the peaceful passing of Grandma Rotella, née Gambino, on May 24, 2026. Surrounded by her loving family, she left this world as she lived in it—surrounded by love, warmth, and a legacy that will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.
Born on November 4, 1933, in the picturesque city of Naples, Italy, Grandma was the cherished daughter of Johnny and Lillian Gambino. She immigrated to the United States, bringing with her the rich traditions and vibrant spirit of her Italian heritage, which she shared generously throughout her life.
For 43 wonderful years, Grandma was the beloved wife of the late Papino Rotella, with whom she built a beautiful life and family. Together, they raised three children, each a testament to their love and dedication: Rose Horn, Johnny Rotella, and Salvatore Rotella, all of whom predeceased her. Her love and guidance also extended to her four grandchildren, and she was a treasured great-grandmother to her six great-grandchildren.
A skilled seamstress, Grandma dedicated 32 years of her life working at Bloomingdale’s department store, where her attention to detail was matched only by the warmth she shared with her colleagues and customers alike. Her professional life was characterized by hard work, creativity, and a spirit that made every task a joy.
Grandma was an active member of St. Mary’s Church in Barnegat, New Jersey, for over 40 years. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and her involvement in the church community was a testament to her generosity and commitment to helping others.
A woman of many talents, Grandma had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome. Her home was always open, filled with laughter, the aroma of her famous Sunday meatballs, and the warmth of her garden’s fresh tomatoes, shared generously with neighbors. Her infectious smile, quick wit, and ever-present hug could brighten the darkest of days, always accompanied by a good glass of wine.
A service to celebrate Grandma's remarkable life will be held at St. Mary’s Church, West Bay Ave, Barnegat, New Jersey, on May 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring a life that brought so much joy and love to those around her.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Community Medical Center for their compassionate care during Grandma's final days. Their support and kindness were a great comfort to her and her family.
Grandma Rotella leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. While we mourn her passing, we celebrate the incredible life she led and the indelible mark she left on our hearts. She will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will live on in the many lives she touched.
