In Loving Memory

Marvin Sallie
April 17, 1955 — July 26, 2026
Grandfather Sallie, a beloved pillar of his family and community, passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2026, at the age of 78, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on April 17, 1955, in Lafayette, Louisiana, he was the cherished son of the late Jhon Sallie and Nancy Sallie.
Growing up in a family rich with love and resilience, he was predeceased by his parents, his sister Patricia Sallie, and his brothers William Sallie and Jhon Sallie Jr. Grandfather's legacy is lovingly carried forward by his devoted wife, Janice Sallie, his daughter Mary Ann Sallie, his children Shelia Sallie, Jhon Sallie, and Dawanye Sallie. He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren: Dawanye Sallie Jr., Jasmine Sallie, Brittany Sallie, Breanna Sallie, Eric Sallie, and Dontrell Sallie, and was blessed with eight great-grandchildren who were the light of his later years.
Grandfather Sallie was a man of remarkable talents and passions. He dedicated his professional life to the world of engineering, working on several continents to install turbo machinery. This eventually evolved into a successful career in sales engineering, providing ventilation systems to the offshore oil and gas, and natural gas pipeline industries. His dedication and expertise were recognized and respected across the globe.
A man of deep faith, Grandfather was an elder and an active member of Lyons’s Baptist Church. His commitment to service extended beyond the church, as he was involved in several non-profit organizations, always striving to make the world a better place.
Grandfather Sallie was known for his quick wit and warm smile, qualities that endeared him to everyone he met. His gift for making people feel welcome and valued was unparalleled. He was an avid fisherman, never missing the opening day, and he found joy in tending to his vegetable garden, often sharing the fruits of his labor with his neighbors. His woodworking skills were legendary within the family; he lovingly crafted furniture for all his grandchildren, each piece a testament to his love and craftsmanship.
A celebration of Grandfather Sallie's remarkable life will be held on August 15, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Lyons’s Baptist Church, located at 3215 Lyons Ave, Houston, TX 77020, United States. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor his life and share memories of the joy and love he brought into the world.
