It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Graice HelenBurton Lomax, a cherished soul who graced this world with her gentleness and warmth for nearly seventy golden years. Graice departed peacefully from this life on June 27, 2026, at Self Regional Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. Her journey began on October 7, 1956, in the heart of Washington DC, where she was born to the late Bennie Lee Burton and Essie Dell Smith Burton.
Graice was a woman of remarkable character, deeply rooted in her faith and community. She was a devoted and lifelong member of Piney Grove, where her spirit of service and unwavering dedication left an indelible mark. Her faith was her compass, and she lived each day with grace and humility, inspiring all who knew her.
Educated in the Saluda public schools, Graice carried the values of integrity, kindness, and hard work throughout her life. She had a natural gift for nurturing relationships and was a beacon of light to her family and friends. Her love for her husband, Herman Lomax, was steadfast and true, a partnership that stood as a testament to enduring love and mutual respect.
Graice was predeceased by her beloved family members, Bennie Leon Burton and Juanita Jones, whose memories she cherished dearly. Her legacy continues through her surviving husband, Herman Lomax, her four children Dominick Lomax of Greenville SC, Seleste and Morianna Lomax of the home, Marquise Lomax of Greenville Sc and an extended lineage of fifteen great-grandchildren, all of whom were the pride and joy of her life. Her laughter and wisdom will forever echo in their hearts.
A celebration of Graice's life will be held on July 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Oak Hill Grave Side, located in Johnston, SC. Family, friends, and all whose lives she touched are invited to gather in honor of her remarkable journey and to bid farewell to a truly exceptional woman.
