It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Grady Fulmer, who departed this world on April 12, 2026, at the age of 88, at his cherished home. Born on June 23, 1937, in the United States, Grady was the beloved son of the late Rev. Grady Fulmer Sr. and Mrs. Beatrice Jones Fulmer. He was preceded in death by his dear parents and siblings: Pearline Perry, Martha Betty Brown, Jerry B. Fulmer, Tommy Fulmer, Wallace Fulmer, Minnie Lois Grant, and Ellis Rhines. Grady was a man of profound character, whose life was a testament to dedication, service, and love. He graduated from Norfield High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years. His commitment to service extended into his professional life, where he dedicated nearly 30 years to the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Department. Rising to the rank of lieutenant, Grady earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community, leaving an indelible mark on those he served. In addition to his career in law enforcement, Grady was a compassionate co-owner of Fulmer Funeral Home in Springfield, South Carolina. Here, he provided solace and support to families during their most difficult times, embodying the empathy and care that defined his character. Grady was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved tending to lawns, sharing meals with loved ones, and taking leisurely rides with his cherished riding partner, Nikyanna Williams. Above all, he treasured the company of family and friends, creating countless cherished memories that will be held dear by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, survived by Ms. Yvette Green of the home; eleven devoted children: Johnny Daniels (Shearlean) of West Palm Beach, FL; Aundray Johnson, Brooklyn, NY; Kevin Fulmer, Gaston, SC; Frankie Lawton, Springfield, SC; Ricky Salley, Georgia; Tim Fulmer (Cheryl), Springfield, SC; Gloria Tyler (Ike), Norway, SC; Terell Salley (Kim), Cope, SC; Don Washington, Springfield, SC; Charles Perry, Gaston, SC; and Ernest Rickenbaker, Irmo, SC. He is also fondly remembered by seven stepchildren, Kierra Green, James Edwards, Quarmaine Edwards, Charmaine Edwards of Springfield, SC; DeAvis Edwards and Robert James of Blackville, SC; and Henry James of Orangeburg, SC; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Lovell Wise; father-in-law, Mr. Doge Wise; sisters-in-law, Ms. Monica Wise and Marcena Green; brother-in-law, Mr. Amos Wise; god-daughters Althea Jackson, Melissa Lawton, Eartha Lawton, and Ann Sims; two special cousins, Mrs. Carleen Carswell and Mrs. Margaret Jackson, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family will gather to celebrate Grady's remarkable life on April 21, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Samaria Missionary Baptist Church in Springfield, SC. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during Grady's illness and passing. Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice Comfort Care, Ms. Carrie Youmans, and Ms. Connie Jackson for their unwavering support and care. Grady Fulmer's life was a beacon of love, service, and dedication. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love him. His legacy of kindness and integrity will continue to inspire all who follow in his footsteps.
