It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Gordon Lee Heinz, who peacefully left this world in his sleep on June 2, 2026. Born on May 25, 1934, in the scenic town of Alamosa, Colorado, Gordon was a cherished son to Vernon and Patricia Heinz, and a beloved patriarch of his family. Gordon grew up with a sense of adventure and duty, which led him to serve his country with honor as part of the Merchant Marines during World War II. His commitment to his nation was a testament to his unwavering patriotism and love for the United States. A man of many talents, Gordon was known not only for his quick wit and warm smile but also for his ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. His kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on everyone he met. He had a gift for storytelling and was always ready with a joke to lighten the mood. Gordon was an avid gardener, often found tending to his vegetable garden, a passion he generously shared with his neighbors. His love for woodworking was evident in the beautiful toys and furniture he crafted for his grandchildren, each piece a labor of love. He was a devoted supporter of animal charities, including the SPCA, reflecting his deep compassion for all living creatures. Gordon is survived by his loving children: son Robert Heinz and his wife Sharon of Los Gatos; son Don and his wife Diana of Penngrove; son Tony Heinz and his wife Carie of Green Forest; and daughter Arlene Mathews of Santa Rosa. His legacy lives on in his seven grandchildren—Linda, John, Sharlene, Nick, Charlie, Andy, and Ben—and four great-grandchildren—Jessica, Julia, Jacob, and Kayla. Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Vernon and Patricia Heinz, who surely welcomed him with open arms. A service to celebrate Gordon's life will be held on June 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Mountain Home Cemetery, East 11th Street. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance and honor the life of this remarkable man. For those wishing to pay tribute to Gordon's memory, donations may be made to the SPCA or a charity of your choice. Gordon Lee Heinz will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. His spirit of kindness, humor, and love will continue to inspire us all. May he rest in peace.
