Golda Lee Johnson
December 31, 1956 — May 12, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of our beloved Golda Lee Johnson, who left this world peacefully on May 12, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on December 31, 1956, in the sunlit city of Phoenix, Golda was a beacon of warmth and wisdom to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Golda was the cherished daughter of Mitchell E. Johnson and Betty Mae Johnson, who instilled in her the values of kindness and perseverance. She was a devoted sister to her three sisters and two brothers, always offering a hand of support and a heart full of love.
For 35 wonderful years, Golda shared her life with her late husband, James Morris, whose memory she held dear until her final days. Their union was a testament to the enduring power of love and partnership.
Teaching was not just a profession for Golda, but a calling. Over her remarkable 50-year career, she touched countless lives, inspiring generations of students with her passion for learning and her unwavering belief in their potential. Her legacy continues in the lives of the many she taught, who remember her as a compassionate mentor and a dedicated educator.
Golda was a committed member of the Greater Sunrise Baptist Church, where her faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her involvement in the church community was marked by her unyielding spirit of generosity and her sincere desire to uplift those around her.
Her greatest joy was her family. Golda leaves behind a loving family who carry forward her spirit: her children, Marlon Johnson, Gerald Johnson, Tameko James, Suzette Kirkland, and Melissa James, who each inherited her strength and integrity. She was a proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren and a joyful great-grandmother to 7 great-grandchildren, all of whom were the lights of her life and the heart of her legacy.
Golda was predeceased by her husband, James Morris, and her parents, Mitchell Johnson and Beth Strawder, whose memories she cherished dearly.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Golda's remarkable life, as per her wishes. We invite those whose lives she touched to remember her in their own way, cherishing the memories and values she imparted.
Golda Lee Johnson will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering faith, and her profound impact on all who knew her. Her legacy of love, education, and community service will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and students. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
