October 22, 1928 — July 23, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria Rose Filoso, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who departed this world peacefully at home on July 23, 2026. Born on October 22, 1928, in the city of New York, to loving parents Costas and Mary Nicholson. Gloria was predeceased by her beloved husband, Rocco Filoso, with whom she shared an extraordinary 63 years of marriage, and 6 children. Her brother, Nicholas Nicholson, also preceded her in death, leaving behind cherished memories. For over two decades, Gloria dedicated herself to serving the community through her work at Smithtown High School. Her nurturing left an indelible mark on countless lives. Beyond her professional life, Gloria was deeply religious, finding solace and strength in her devotion to the Blessed Virgin, which guided her through life's journey. Gloria was a woman of many talents and passions. An avid golfer, she found joy on the greens, and through her love for painting, she captured the beauty of the world around her. Her skillful hands also created warmth and comfort through sewing and quilting, a testament to her nurturing spirit. To those who knew her, Gloria was a loving mother, always eager to care for her family and anyone in need. Her kindness and unconditional love were the cornerstones of her life, qualities that she passed down to her nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who will forever hold her dear in their hearts. A funeral mass to honor and celebrate Gloria's remarkable life will be held at St. William of York in Stafford, Virginia. Family and friends will gather to pay their respects and share in the memories of a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, Gloria's family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to St William of York School in Stafford or St. Jude’s research hospital. This gesture will continue Gloria's legacy of love and care for others, providing hope and healing to those in need. Gloria Rose Filoso's life was a testament to love, faith, and the power of a compassionate heart. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her, and her legacy of kindness will live on through the lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.
