Gloria May Tucker
November 2, 1944 — June 13, 2026
It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Gloria May Tucker. Born on November 2, 1944, in the charming town of Starlet, Virginia, Gloria was a beacon of warmth and kindness. She departed this world peacefully at her home on June 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, at the age of 81.
Gloria was the cherished daughter of the late William Bain and Vida Cherry, whose nurturing spirit she carried forward throughout her life. She was later embraced by her stepfather, James Cherry, who she also held dear. Her life was a testament to resilience, compassion, and unwavering love, characteristics that she imparted to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Gloria was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gerrell Tucker Sr., with whom she shared a beautiful journey of love and partnership. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, understanding, and unwavering support. Her heart was further shattered by the loss of her son, Gerrell Tucker Jr., whose memory she cherished deeply. Gloria also mourned the passing of her brother, William Cherry, whose camaraderie and shared memories were an integral part of her life.
Despite the profound losses she endured, Gloria found joy in her surviving family. She leaves behind her devoted daughter, Sherry Tucker, who was the light of her life and stood by her side through every triumph and trial. Gloria's legacy of love and wisdom will continue through her cherished granddaughter, Vida Tucker, who she adored and took immense pride in. She is also survived by her loving sister, Wendy Davis, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond and a lifetime of memories.
Gloria's extended family and friends were a significant part of her life, and she cherished each moment shared with them. Whether it was through family gatherings, cherished phone calls, or handwritten letters, she had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel valued and loved.
Her life was marked by her dedication to nurturing those around her, a reflection of her career as a teacher in her early years. Gloria had a passion for gardening, finding solace and beauty in nature, and she often shared the fruits of her labor with neighbors and friends. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, filled with the aroma of her delicious cooking, a testament to her love of bringing people together around the table.
As we remember Gloria, we celebrate a life well-lived, a heart that loved fiercely, and a spirit that will remain with us forever. We find comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with those she loved and missed dearly.
A celebration of Gloria's life will be held at the Starlet Community Church, where she was a devoted member for many years, on June 20, 2026. Friends and family are invited to gather at 2:00 PM to honor her memory, share stories, and celebrate the incredible legacy she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Starlet Community Garden, a cause close to Gloria’s heart, ensuring her love for nature and community continues to blossom.
Gloria May Tucker touched the lives of all she met, and her memory will be cherished forever. She lived with grace, and she leaves us with an enduring legacy of love and kindness.
