It is with profound sadness yet deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our beloved Gloria Mae Pinestraw Young, who departed this earthly realm on June 21, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on March 27, 1960, in the warm embrace of Independence, Louisiana, Gloria was a beacon of love, strength, and resilience to all who knew her.
Gloria was the cherished daughter of Lenell Bryant Sr. and Rose Mary Pinestraw, who nurtured her spirit and instilled in her the values of kindness and community. She joins them now in eternal peace, alongside her dearly missed siblings Roselee Bryant, Judy Hogan, and Gloria Solomon; her brothers Liondell and Lionell Bryant; her beloved son, Terry Pinestraw; her precious grandson, King Pinestraw; and her sweet great-granddaughter, Domain Thomas.
Gloria's life was a testament to the power of love and family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry Young, whose steadfast partnership was a cornerstone of her life. Her legacy continues through her children: Leonard (Rena) Pinestraw, Margeanie (Darryl) Hampton, Jermaine Pinestraw, Curtis Pinestraw, Cynthia (Harold) Ruffin, Shedrick Young, Terrance Robertson, and Jerryon Anderson. Her heart was further enriched by her godson, Undra Bryant, and goddaughters, Angela (Ferdinand) Bezue, Christy Pinestraw, and Alleyah (Levi) Martin.
Gloria was blessed with a large and loving family, including her siblings Diane (Joe) Pines, Angela (Johnathan) Fuller, Debra Mitchell, Lenell (Shasta) Bryant, and James Bryant, as well as her godbrothers, Willie Conner Sr. and Clarence Dantzler. Her niece-sisters Natasha (Willie) Aaron and Mia Gooden held a special place in her heart, and she leaves behind a tapestry of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and countless friends who cherished her deeply.
Gloria's greatest joy came from her 47 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, who filled her days with laughter and love. She was their guiding star, always present with a warm smile and wise words. Gloria, hard working women rather it was at work or home taking care of the family and loved ones. Gloria, was known for her warm heart, kind words and loving soul. She never made anyone feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. She open her heart and home to so many people thought out her life time. She was known as "MOMO BOO".
A celebration of Gloria's life will be held on July 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at ReVision, located at 118 N. Scanian St. in Hammond, Louisiana. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor the remarkable woman who touched so many lives.
As we say goodbye to Gloria Mae Pinestraw Young, we find comfort in knowing that her legacy of love will continue to inspire and uplift us. Her life was a beautiful melody that will resound in our hearts forever. May she rest in eternal peace, wrapped in the arms of the loved ones who awaited her arrival.
