Gloria Jean Carey, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away on March 20, 2026, at the age of 77, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on September 2, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri, Gloria's life was a tapestry of love, strength, and unwavering dedication. The daughter of Delores Carey, Gloria was raised with a strong sense of family and community. She attended Loverture Elementary and graduated from Soldan High School in St. Louis. Her journey took her to Oakland, California, where she dedicated three years of her life to the United States Post Office. Her career was marked by diligence and an unyielding commitment to providing for her family. Gloria was a proud member of the Church of the Loving God in San Diego, California, where she found solace and strength in her faith. Her church family was a source of comfort and joy, and her presence was a cherished blessing to all who knew her. A woman of many talents, Gloria enjoyed crocheting, hosting parties, and entertaining family and friends. Her home was often filled with laughter and warmth, as she had a natural gift for making others feel welcomed and valued. Her kindness and generosity touched many lives, and she was known for being a strict but loving mother and disciplinarian, ensuring her children were well-prepared for the world. Gloria is survived by her loving children, Celestine Crawford and Lawrence Crawford; her cherished granddaughter, Chamonique Crawford; her great grandchildren Robert Taylor, Jayvoyn Taylor, Dejohanna Harris and Dejohn Harris her devoted siblings, Regina, Freda, Elaine, Deborah, and Albert Jr. She is predeceased by her mother, Carey, her sister Andrea, and her brothers, Frederick and Landis. Her family will forever hold her in their hearts, treasuring the memories of her love and guidance. A service to celebrate Gloria's remarkable life will be held on April 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Loving God, located at 4202 Delta Street, San Diego, CA 92113. Family and friends are invited to gather in her memory, sharing stories of a life well-lived and a love that will never fade. In honoring Gloria's legacy, let us remember the countless ways she enriched our lives and strive to carry forward her spirit of generosity and love. Her journey here may have ended, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us in the days to come.
