Gloria Jane Paxton

April 28, 1941 — September 24, 2026

Gloria Jane Paxton, affectionately known to many as "Glo," passed peacefully at home on September 24, 2026, surrounded by her caregivers. Born on April 28, 1941, in Chester, Pennsylvania, Gloria was a cherished daughter of Sandy Micormick Paxton, Jr. and Madilina Agnes Malatesta. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, her sister Sally, and her brother. Gloria’s life was enriched by the presence of her surviving sister, Sandy Rhodes, and her nephew, whose lives she touched with her warmth and generosity. Her close friend and devoted caregiver of 49 years, Rosemary Frase, stood by her side through life's journey, along with the entire Frase, Williams, Wright, and Jones families. Gloria shared a special bond with Joe Frase, fondly remembering the red wagon he gifted her on her birthday. Her circle of love extended to dear friends Cindy and Robin Christiansen and Mary May Berman. Gloria treasured her expansive family unit, finding immense joy in their summer reunions, where laughter, love, and old stories wove a tapestry of cherished memories. Growing up on a farm ignited Gloria’s lifelong passion for cows. She delighted in educating her companions on the names of each type of cow during country rides. Her enthusiasm for life was palpable, especially during sporting events. Gloria eagerly anticipated The Triple Crown, carefully selecting her horses and cheering them on with exuberance. Football season was another spirited affair, with Gloria decked out in her Ravens gear, her voice resonating with excitement for every touchdown. Super Bowl parties were a highlight, as were her heartfelt cheers for the Orioles during baseball season. Professionally, Gloria dedicated 25 years to The Marriott Corporation, retiring from the Holiday Inn in Dover, Delaware. Her commitment and work ethic left a lasting impression on those she worked alongside. A devout member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dover, Gloria actively participated in Sunday school and church services. Her involvement in Sunday school programs, particularly during Christmas and vacation Bible school, showcased her love for community and song. Gloria's hobbies reflected her zest for life and love for nature. Her red wagon, often brimming with garden produce, was a symbol of her joy in gardening. She relished cooking, canning, and making jams and jellies during the holidays, and her delicious cookies were a beloved gift to friends and family. Known for her infectious laughter, Gloria had a captivating sense of humor. Her love for "The Price Is Right" and old western movies, even the reruns, brought her immense joy. She found peace in watching horses, birds, squirrels, and cats outside her window, while her birthday coconut cake from Bylers remained a sweet indulgence. Gloria’s caregivers, who became an extended family, would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Darlene Bailey, CNA, for her compassionate care. Gloria’s bright, sunshiny presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A service to celebrate Gloria’s life will be held on October 8, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Pippin Funeral Home, located at 119 W. Camden Wyoming Ave., Camden Wyoming, DE 19934. In honor of Gloria’s memory, memorial contributions are suggested to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19962, or a charity of your choice. Her family is grateful for the professional and compassionate care provided by Delaware Hospice. Gloria’s love and laughter will forever live on in our hearts.
