It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Gloria Flegler, who left this world on July 15, 2026. Born on December 26, 1943, in Washington, D.C., Gloria was a beacon of love and warmth, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She faced her battle with dementia with remarkable strength and grace, surrounded by the love of her family and friends until her peaceful departure.
Gloria was the cherished daughter of Jackie and James Walker. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 57 years, James Flegler, and their beloved son, Earl Flegler. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
She is survived by her three sons, Frederick Flegler, Philip Flegler, and Tyron Flegler. Gloria's legacy lives on in her grandchildren, Quantia Steele, Raven Flegler, Skylar Gramblin, Shalonda Flegler, Philip Flegler Jr., Tyra, and Tamia, among others, as well as her 14 great-grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy, and her love for them was boundless and unconditional.
Gloria was a proud graduate of Ballou Senior High School. Her deep faith was evident in her commitment to the AE Church of Christ, which she joined in 1970. Her devotion to her faith grew as she became an evangelist, sharing her wisdom and compassion with her community.
In addition to being a dedicated stay-at-home mom, Gloria was an enterprising woman who owned a successful sewing business in Southeast D.C. Her creativity and skill were evident in every stitch, and her sweet potato pie was legendary among family and friends.
Known for her radiant smile, genuine heart, and the ability to pour her spirit into others, Gloria touched countless lives. Her home was a haven of warmth, filled with the aroma of delicious meals and the sounds of laughter and love.
A service to honor the life of Gloria Flegler will be held on July 24, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Speak Life Ministry, located at 205 Edgefield Rd, North Augusta, SC 29841. Her family expresses their deepest gratitude to everyone who has offered their love and support during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Gloria's memory may consider making a donation to a charity of their choice.
Gloria Flegler's life was a testament to love, resilience, and faith. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy will forever remain in our hearts.
