It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Gloria Faye Westmoreland, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, on March 20, 2026, at IU Medical, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family and friends. Gloria was born on September 18, 1940, in the quaint town of Morgantown, Indiana, to Charles and Miriam Dotson, who preceded her in death.
Gloria lived a life rich with love, laughter, and resilience. She was predeceased by her beloved life partner, John Harris, her son, Charles Westmoreland, and her dear siblings, Beverly Dotson and Angela Dotson Knox. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her cherished grandchildren, Tamika Brown, Dayja Westmoreland Turkson, and Jordan Westmoreland, as well as her precious great-granddaughter, Shannon Moss.
Throughout her life, Gloria embraced a multitude of careers, each with the same passion and dedication that she brought to her personal life. Her professional journey was diverse and impactful, spanning roles in the Postal Service, real estate, life insurance, mental health care, and retail services. Gloria's work was a testament to her adaptability and her unwavering dedication to serving her community.
In her personal life, Gloria was known for her boundless kindness and a heart that never met a stranger. Her home was a haven of warmth and acceptance, and she proudly claimed many goddaughters from across the country, each one touched by her nurturing spirit and generous heart.
Gloria was a woman of many interests, and she lived life to the fullest. She was an active participant in social clubs, loved bowling, and could often be found enjoying the excitement of trips to the casino, particularly her favorite game of Keno. Her laughter and joy were contagious, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.
A service to honor and celebrate Gloria's life will be held on March 23, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Indiana Funeral Care, located at 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250. Family and friends are invited to join in remembering Gloria's remarkable life and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of those who knew her.
As we say goodbye to Gloria, we hold onto her memory with love and gratitude for the light she brought into our lives. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will forever surround us, echoing the love and kindness she so freely shared.
