Obituary for Glodean Henderson Cothran
It is with heavy hearts, yet with a deep sense of gratitude for a life well-lived, that we announce the passing of Glodean Henderson Cothran, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Glodean passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her home.
Born on February 18, 1937, in Greenville, Kentucky, Glodean was the cherished daughter of Herschel Henderson and Ida Marie Whitney Henderson, who preceded her in death. From her parents, Glodean inherited a strong spirit and a heart full of kindness—qualities that defined her throughout her life.
Glodean was a devoted homemaker, whose life revolved around her family. She was the loving mother of four children: Kathy Dwyer and Marina Skinner, who survive her, and her sons, Scottie Dwyer and Herschel Dan Dwyer, who preceded her in death. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren—Jesse Fralick, Everett Fralick, Ricky Dean Skinner, Cathy Skinner, Paul Wayne Dwyer, Elizabeth Dwyer, Scott Lee Dwyer, and Jonathan Dwyer—as well as her 16 great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Glodean was blessed with five siblings. She is survived by her sister Patricia White and is now reunited in eternal peace with her brother Dearl Henderson and her sisters Joyce Cunningham, Norma Hardin, and Barbara Gordon.
A woman of deep faith, Glodean was a dedicated member of the Pentecostal church. Her faith was her guiding light, providing her with strength and comfort throughout her life.
Glodean had a special love for children, and she found great joy in babysitting her grandchildren and other young family members. Her home was always filled with laughter and the aroma of her delicious cooking. She took pride in creating a warm and welcoming environment and found true contentment in the simple pleasures of cooking and cleaning for those she loved.
The family will forever cherish the memories of her gentle smile, her unwavering patience, and her endless love. Glodean's legacy is one of love, compassion, and selflessness. She leaves behind a family that will continue to carry her spirit in their hearts.
A memorial service celebrating Glodean's life will be held at a later date, where friends and family will gather to honor her memory and share the stories that made her life so extraordinary.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Glodean's name to a children's charity of your choosing, as a tribute to her lifelong love for children.
Rest in peace, Glodean Henderson Cothran. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
