In Loving Memory

Glenroy John
April 28, 1973 — July 4, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Glenroy John, a beloved father, son, brother, and friend. Glenroy departed this life peacefully on July 4, 2026, at the age of 53, after courageously battling heart failure. Born on April 28, 1973, in Kingston, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Glenroy's journey from an island in the Caribbean to the bustling streets of New York was marked by resilience, determination, and an unwavering love for his family and community.
Glenroy was the cherished son of Hubert Lettein and the late Esther John. He is survived by his loving father, Hubert, and his ex-wife Angeline (Lesa) Lewis, with whom he shared three wonderful children: Niron Smith, Daniel John, and Julian John. His siblings, Caress Lettine, Sallyann Lewis, Derick John, Theodore Lettein, and Adrian (Cornileus) Smith, along with numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins, mourn his loss deeply.
Glenroy's life was a testament to perseverance and kindness. After graduating from New Dorp High School in Staten Island, New York, in 1992, he embarked on a career that saw him contribute to various sectors, including working for Van Lines moving company, serving as a security guard on Park Hill Ave, and dedicating his efforts toward the Parks and Recreation department for the City of New York. His colleagues remember him as a diligent worker who approached each task with a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence.
Beyond his professional life, Glenroy was a man of many passions. He loved running and was often found working out at Planet Fitness, embodying a spirit of health and vitality. Those who knew him will fondly recall his assertive yet warm nature, always ready to lend a helping hand or find a solution to any problem. His kindness and compassion left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Glenroy's legacy is carried forward by his family, who will forever cherish the memories they created together. His sons, in particular, will continue to honor their father's memory by emulating his values of integrity, perseverance, and love.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Stradford Funeral Home for their dedicated support and to the Staten Island Seventh Day Adventist Church for hosting Glenroy's funeral services. A memorial service will be held on July 21, 2026, at 9:00 AM at the Staten Island SDA Church, located at 80 Union Ave, Staten Island, New York. The family invites all who knew Glenroy to join them in celebrating his life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Glenroy's memory to a charity of your choice that resonates with the compassion and kindness he embodied throughout his life.
As we bid farewell to Glenroy, may we find comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched. "May the Lord bless you and keep you, may the Lord cause His face to shine upon you and give you peace." Amen.
