It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Glennora Walker, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Glennora passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on November 30, 1954, in Philadelphia, she was the cherished daughter of John Poteat and Wanita Porter.
Glennora’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and unwavering devotion. She was predeceased by her loving mother, Wanita Porter, her beloved daughter, Samia Ellis, and her dear mother-in-law, Florene Walker. Her memory will be forever treasured by those she leaves behind, including her devoted husband, Jimmy Walker, whom she married on November 1, 2013, and her cherished son, Donald Thomas Jr. Glennora was also a proud grandmother, blessed with the joy of one grandchild who brought immense happiness to her days.
A woman of strength and service, Glennora proudly served in the United States Army for three years, receiving an honorable discharge in 1982. Her commitment to duty and her country was a source of pride for her family and all who knew her.
After her military service, Glennora dedicated herself to a career in security, where she worked diligently and with great integrity until her retirement in 2020. Her colleagues remember her as a dedicated professional who approached her work with the same passion she applied to all aspects of her life.
In addition to her professional achievements, Glennora was a pillar of her community through her active membership at the Atlanta Live Church in Lithonia, GA. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she found great joy in fellowship and service to others.
A celebration of Glennora’s life will be held on June 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Atlanta City Church, located at 2244 Panola Rd, Lithonia, GA 30058. The family invites all who knew and loved her to join them in remembering a remarkable woman whose legacy of kindness and compassion will endure.
In these moments of sorrow, the Walker family extends their deepest gratitude to all who have offered their support through calls, visits, food, and gifts. Most importantly, they are profoundly thankful for the prayers that have enveloped them during this difficult time.
