It is with profound sorrow and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Glenn Morris Jennings, who left us peacefully on April 27, 2026, at the age of 90. Glenn was born on September 14, 1935, in Dallas, Texas, to his loving parents, John and Jeffie Jennings. His life was a testament to kindness, service, and the enduring power of love.
Glenn spent his formative years in the vibrant city of Dallas, where he attended Sunset High School every Tuesday and Thursday, balancing his studies with his passion for working on hot cars. This early love for mechanics and problem-solving was a precursor to the incredible journey he would embark on.
At the age of 18, Glenn joined the United States Navy, dedicating 22 years of honorable service as a corpsman. Rising to the rank of Chief, he served with unwavering dedication, including five tours in Vietnam. He was stationed on the USS Belle Grove LSD-2, USS Pickaway APA-222, USS Renville APA-227, and USS Thomaston LSD-28. His commitment to his country was further exemplified by completing the rigorous Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) training. Glenn retired in 1979, leaving behind a legacy of courage and resilience.
In 1972, Glenn married the love of his life, Sharon, in a heartfelt ceremony in Albany, Georgia. Their 53-year union was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they built a life rich in love, laughter, and shared adventures.
After retiring from the Navy, Glenn channeled his skills and determination into the business world, becoming a part-owner of a dental delivery service before joining Baylor Dental College in Dallas. He worked there until his retirement in 2000, leaving a lasting impact on colleagues and friends with his kindness and problem-solving skills.
Glenn was an avid outdoorsman, finding joy in bass fishing, hunting, and tending to his vegetable garden. He found solace in nature's beauty, often reflecting on its wonders as evidence of a divine presence. A skilled poker player and devoted to his yard, Glenn was a man of diverse interests and talents.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Jeffie Jennings, his sisters Pat King and Jo Kalenic, and his brother C.E. "Buddy" Jennings. Glenn is survived by his beloved wife Sharon, his sister Betty Arnwine, and countless friends who were touched by his generosity and warmth.
A service to celebrate Glenn's life will be held on May 9, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Becker Methodist Church, located at 7901 Co Rd 4030, Becker, TX. We invite all who knew him to gather and honor his remarkable life and legacy.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Kaufman, the ICU, and Hospice nurses for their compassionate care and support during Glenn's final days. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
In the words of his beloved wife, Sharon, "Glenn was my heart and soul, my whole life." His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Rest in peace, dear Glenn. You will be forever missed and eternally cherished.
